Chatham Financial announced today that Bill Schultz has joined as Managing Director and Chief Digital Officer of its Global Real Estate team to lead the strategy and development of its commercial real estate technology product suite.
To stay ahead of evolving needs in the CRE capital markets, Chatham will increase the speed of development and expand the capabilities of its real estate technology platform. In his new role, Schultz will be responsible for steering the vision and growth of Chatham’s digital product offerings to help real estate clients optimize their debt management, valuation, covenant tracking and reporting, debt pipeline, and data analytics capabilities. As the largest real estate debt capital markets platform, Chatham’s technology currently manages:
• $1.3T active debt principal
• 47K+ loans
• 250+ clients
• 84% of ODCE fund principal balance
“Bill’s expertise in real estate technology combined with his unrivaled understanding of debt capital markets and the end-to-end real estate investment management/owner-operator process made him the ideal choice to lead Chatham’s technology development,” said Matt Henry, Managing Partner and Chairman of Chatham Financial. “While we have more than doubled our debt management revenue in recent years, with the increasing demand for our product and our pipeline of new offerings, the speed of growth is accelerating exponentially, and we are excited for Bill to lead the effort.”
Prior to joining Chatham, Schultz spent 19 years with J.P. Morgan Asset Management. In his most recent role as Chief Operating Officer of Global Alternatives — Real Estate Americas, he led the design and implementation of an industry leading data and technology platform. In addition to responsibility for developing and executing the business plan, directing strategic initiatives, and the operational management of the Americas real estate business, Bill was the business owner of the real estate technology program and a major presence in the real estate technology community. His prior responsibilities at J.P. Morgan included managing the platform’s real assets expansion into Europe, Asia, and South America. He also served as Global Head of Technology, India Services and Product Delivery, implementing investment products and technology solutions across real estate, private credit, infrastructure, and transportation.
“At Chatham, we have an unlimited opportunity to evolve, expand, and enhance our services and technology product offerings, enabling clients to maximize their value in the debt and equity markets. To lead this effort, I'm bringing my experience digitizing J.P. Morgan’s real estate investment management operating model and implementing data programs and vertical technology solutions for capital markets. I’ve led digital development in many real estate management disciplines, including valuation, asset management, acquisitions, financial operations, and REIT/CMBS trading,” said Schultz. “Our ambitious expectations require investment in our current technology team, and we will accelerate our growth by attracting top talent.”
Lonergan Partners assisted with the candidate search and placement of this role. Schultz will work out of Chatham’s global headquarters, outside of Philadelphia.
