Fremont, CA: It is no secret that the real estate industry underwent significant changes over the years. The pandemic had a significant impact on real estate, not only in terms of how many people perceive houses but also in terms of prices, demand, and overall trends.
As a real estate investor, it is critical to stay up to date on the latest trends so one knows how to proceed—understanding where the economy is headed, what trends are emerging, and how to maximize one's investment.
AKRU, a new real estate investment company that built the first blockchain-based trading platform which allows fractional investments, welcomes the joining of the alternative investment industry veteran Will Powers as Chief Operating Officer.
AKRU has received funding from a number of prestigious venture capital firms, including Draper Goren Holm, a venture studio focused on accelerating blockchain and crypto startups based in Southern California.
Powers will monitor the company's operations as head of capital markets, responsible for raising capital through Registered Investment Advisors and family offices, as part of AKRU's ongoing investment in platform development. Powers brings to the role over 30 years of experience in the investment industry, with more than two decades of that time spent raising capital for alternative investments.
Prior to this position, Powers was CEO of Alternative Advisers, a consulting firm to new sponsors that helped with the formation of selling groups, distribution, and, eventually, capital raising. Prior to joining Alternative Advisers, Powers was instrumental in the launch of several successful sponsors and products, including Dividend Capital, Preferred Apartments, and ING Funds.
"AKRU is changing the way we look at investing in real estate — they are truly a market disruptor and leader in this new technology, ''commented Powers. "I look forward to being part of the senior management team and helping guide the company to transform the commercial real estate market and how people invest in it."
Powers will focus on onboarding new real estate assets to AKRU's platform, having driven growth at startup firms by raising hundreds of millions of dollars in capital and successfully launching lots of new products.
The platform will provide investors with access to institutional-grade real estate in all sectors, including multifamily, office, retail, industrial, and others, but in much smaller chunks.
